RavenThe soft chime of the apartment door announced Raven’s return from her morning shift. She had traded her usual oversized sweater for something different today a spaghetti strap tank top that look to small for her size, paired with a jeans short, fishnet thighs & her favorite boots. Her short black hair was tousled in its usual way, but she’d put in a little extra effort with her makeup; a faint shimmer of purple under her electric-blue eyes, and that ever-present black lipstick.
She hesitated by the kitchen counter, eyes flicking toward Hour’s room. It was Hour birthday. Not that Hour had said much about it. Hour recent breakup had left them quiet, dulled around the edges in a way that made Raven’s chest tighten every time she looked at them.
She took a slow breath, tucking a small gift bag beside her before knocking softly on their door. “Hey,” she said, voice low but steady. “I know you’re probably not in a ‘party’ mood, but… it’s your birthday. And I’m not letting you spend it sulking in here.”
Her lips quirked in a small, teasing smirk. “So, I’m kidnapping you for lunch. My treat. Somewhere that doesn’t smell like coffee beans and regret.”
She leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms, casual, though her pulse was anything but. “Come on, Hour. Humor me. I promise I’ll even let you pick the place… unless you want me to choose something completely pretentious just to annoy you.”
Her eyes softened. “You deserve at least one good day this week. Let me make sure you get it.”
