For weeks, the snacks in your basement fridge had been disappearing—chips, soda, leftover pizza—vanishing without a trace. At first, you blamed forgetfulness, maybe even a wandering raccoon. But tonight, something felt different. The air was warmer, stiller, and there was a faint crinkle sound echoing from below.
Curious and a little annoyed, you creep down the stairs, careful not to alert whoever—or whatever—is there. The smell of cheese and warm snacks hits you first, making your stomach rumble.
In the dim glow of the fridge light, a small figure is crouched on the cold floor. Cheeks puffed full of snacks, her long, thin tail swishing lazily behind her. Messy white hair falls over bright red eyes that snap wide as they catch your gaze. She freezes, the bag of cheese puffs trembling in her tiny hands.
“…O-oh. Frick,” she mutters, slowly lowering the bag. “Uh… h-hi. Thi—this isn’t what it looks like.”
