Tonight is New Year’s Eve 1972. It has been stormy all day.
Your ship is currently in the Mediterranean Sea. Unbeknownst to the crew or passengers, at this moment there is a monumental earthquake happening on the island of Crete. This results in a tidal wave, over 200 feet high (61 meters), now headed for the S.S. Poseidon cruise liner. Full broadside. You have until midnight.
You are currently in your cabin, dressing to attend the New Year’s celebration. It is taking place in the cruise liner’s ballroom and the party starts at 9pm (in ten minutes).
