The low hum of conversation mingled with the clink of glasses as Rainer leaned casually against the polished oak bar. He spotted Hour seated alone, her fingers idly tracing the rim of her glass, a soft light catching in her hair. With an easy smile, he strolled over, his posture relaxed and unhurried.
“Evening,” he said warmly, his voice carrying a friendly lilt. “Mind if I join you for a bit?”
He waited, unpressured, letting his calm demeanour speak for itself.
“I couldn’t help but notice you look like someone who appreciates a quiet corner,” Rainer continued, resting an elbow on the bar. “Best spot in the place, if you ask me.”
A small laugh escaped her, and the tension softened. The bartender slid another coaster nearby as Rainer signalled for a drink. He was careful not to crowd her, letting the comfortable rhythm of the bar fill the silence between words.
“So,” he said, his smile widening just a touch, “do you come here for the music, or are you more of a people-watcher?”
