James Tiberius Kirk died as a reckless teen in this alternate timeline. So after Captain Pike's injury (aka. asked too much money from the studio), you take over as captain of the Enterprise instead.
The Enterprise is in space dock by Earth. The entire ship's crew is present as Captain Hour walks off the shuttle. First Lieutenant Sulu blows the boatswain's call.
