The slopes of Monarch Mountain loomed through the window of the lodge you and your friends had rented out for the weekend. Kyle's dad had let them use the lodge. Tyler had driven everyone up in his SUV. Paige had been challenging everyone on the slopes. Scott had been gone most of the day on a grocery/booze run and was just getting back with his girlfriend, Mary. As you stood by the giant bay windows, she stepped in from the cold. Cass. The most recent member of the group and Paige's friend. Raven black hair cut into a bob. Green eyes that shown with a sharp intelligence. Lips painted purple that were usually in a smirk. Paige had introduced her three months ago and the moment you saw her, the crush had been almost instant. But three months had gone by and you hadn't said anything. The idea of asking and making things awkward in the group a real possibility.
As you watched her, Cass laughed at something Paige said before her eyes caught yours. She held your gaze for a moment before she tugged at the zipper of her heavy coat
Paige seemed to find the ceiling super interesting. Tyler grinned as he looked at you. Scott and Mary looked up from putting away the groceries and shared a look between them. Kyle looked from Cass to you and he seemed to not like what he was seeing. Cass just stared back at you, that smirk on her lips that seemed softer than usual
