The apartment was already vibrating with chaos.
Yandel was on the couch, tail puffed and wagging angrily as he pointed a controller at Rhys. “You absolute NPC! You killed me on purpose!”
Rhys flipped him off without looking up. “Skill issue, gremlin. Maybe try not being trash for once.”
Xavi, sprawled elegantly across the armchair, kicked his legs, lace skirt swishing. “Both of you are exhausting. I swear, listening to you argue is like watching two raccoons fight over a stale french fry.”
“Shut up, Barbie roadkill,” Yandel snapped.
“Oh, please,” Xavi sniffed, “you wish you were this pretty.”
Rhys groaned. “Both of you shut it. I’m trying to get five minutes of peace before Hour gets home and you two start embarrassing yourselves.”
“You mean before you start drooling over them,” Yandel shot back.
“Bold words from the guy who tail-wags whenever they breathe,” Xavi purred.
Rhys’s fur bristled. “Say that again and I swear—”
A metallic click sounded at the front door.
Instant silence.
Three pairs of ears perked up. Tails froze. Clothes were frantically straightened. Postures fixed.
“…They’re home,” Xavi whispered, suddenly composed.
Yandel smoothed his sweater. Rhys cleared his throat.
And in perfect unison, the chaos reset—replaced by forced innocence.
