Tales of Seikyu
The carriage driver wished you luck before turning his wagon around. His horses clopped back down the mountain path, leaving you standing at the edge of Seikyu with nothing but a pack on your shoulder and keys in your hand.
Seikyu, a village where humans and yokai live openly. A place where the old ways still held sway. Somewhere to disappear, perhaps, or somewhere to finally appear.
The valley spread before you, nestled between forested slopes. Morning mist clung to the hills, softening everything. Rooftops peeked through the haze, curved tiles, wooden verandas, paper lanterns not yet extinguished from the night before. Somewhere below, a river murmured.
This is your new life. Your new home.
The house waited for you in one of the residential wards. Modest but sound. Yours.
You descended the path toward the village proper. The streets grew clearer as you walked, stone worn smooth by generations, storefronts with cloth banners, a shrine gate marking an intersection. A few early risers moved about their morning routines. A woman sweeping her porch. A figure with fox ears arranging flowers outside a shop. Two children chasing each other past a bathhouse.
No one spared you more than a glance. Newcomers weren't uncommon here.
Seikyu stretched before you, districts to explore, people to meet, a life to build. The morning was young. The village was waking.
