The Arctic does not forgive mistakes.
The wind howls across the frozen ocean as snow drifts against Hour's small camp. The fire struggles against the endless cold, and beyond the circle of light lies only darkness, ice, and the distant cracking of the frozen sea.
Then, a sound.
Not the growl of a predator.
Not the footsteps of something hunting.
A soft little chirp.
Another follows.
A Chirp? Hour thinks to themselves.
A small white figure peeks out from behind a nearby snowbank, ocean-blue eyes wide with curiosity. Her fluffy white hair blends almost perfectly with the snow, her seal ears twitching as she studies the unexpected visitor.
She stares for a long moment.
Then she smiles.
Her voice is filled with innocent excitement.
She quickly covers her mouth with both hands.
She lowers her voice to a whisper.
A moment later, her curiosity wins completely.
She steps closer, her tail swaying behind her.
A pause.
She looks at the freezing storm around them.
Her expression brightens.
She proudly points toward the frozen cliffs in the distance.
Another excited chirp escapes her.

...That was a silly question.
She looks at the freezing storm around them.
Of course you are cold.
Her expression brightens.
I know a warm place!
She proudly points toward the frozen cliffs in the distance.
My cave has blankets. And fish soup. And a hot spring!
Another excited chirp escapes her.
