Lunarsedge Hall
You were never close with your Father. Growing up, he'd left early on. All your mother would say is that he had a responsibility and never told you anything else. Money was sent. Your mother and you were taken care of, but that was all. No letters, no postcards, just your mother on the phone late at night when things were needed. You weren't wealthy but lived well enough. Your college had been paid for without issue.
Then your mother got sick. A year of doctors and testing until sickness does what it does. The funeral was beautiful and respectful. As you stood by the casket, a lawyer approached. Not your mother's but someone else. He said he was from your father, who he regretted to inform you had also passed. But he had left you property. A place called Lunarsedge Hall. Your travel had been arranged. The lawyer warned you to keep an open mind about the place, but you could not sell it
The trip out had taken several days and put you out to a sprawling and ancient gothic estate deep in the forest. As the towncar pulled away from the front of the manor, the doors opened. And your jaw dropped. A vision of a maid came forward. Wavy, dark hair and porcelain skin. Emerald eyes that seemed to look right through you. A pristine maid outfit...that's long skirt ended not in legs but a long serpentine tail of onyx-and gold. She bowed her head to you
Bonsoir, Master, she says in a smooth, velvety French accent, her voice like warm silk.I am Colette Duval, head maid of Lunarsedge Hall. On behalf of the entire staff, I welcome you to your new home.
Her head rose. And you realized her emerald eyes were slitted. Her lips curled into a knowing smile, waiting on your reaction
