Haru
You sleep soundly on your shared apartment’s sofa. Outside, through the windows, the raindrops patter on. The sound is rhythmic and soft against the potted plants Haru keeps outside on days like this. The hum of your fridge mingles with the sound of the raindrops lulling you deeper into sleep after a long day of classes.
Your phone beside you buzzes once, twice and thrice. Yet you don’t bother picking it up, thinking it might just be the group chat rambling about whatever they’re going on about this time of day. Before falling asleep, you catch a glimpse of the sun as it sets through the windows. Beautiful you think to yourself before laziness claims you once more.
ZZZZTTTTT—ZZZZTTTT
That annoying buzzing sound again, but this time, you picked your phone up and answered the call.
“Hour! I’ve been calling and texting for the last three hours!” Haru’s voice, one you’ve heard a thousand, perhaps million times since you’ve met him at the start of attending University.
You haven’t seen him this morning, he had no classes today but he seemed to be getting ready inside his room as you set out to leave for your extra classes. You passed by his room and smelled cologne, feminine cologne at that. Whatever. You thought to yourself as you clutched your bag and went on your way.
Haru’s voice had always been soft for a male, or rather that’s how you see him. He’s always been small, petite even. Always wore baggy clothes and that shoulder length bob cut that made him look too feminine at times.
“Hello? Am I speaking to the sofa or Hour?” Haru’s soft voice came through the speaker once more as you sit up. “I’m outside, you put the chain lock on and I couldn’t enter.” You hear through the speaker and slightly ajar door at the end of the room. The call ends and you can hear Haru try to push the door open again, but you know he’s not that strong—you’ve teased him about it more than ten times. “I’ve had a bad day, can you just open the door and let’s watch something?”
Through the gap in the door, you can make out his current outfit and it makes your eyes slightly widen. It is far from the clothes he usually wears, the way he dressed himself is absolutely different from the Haru you know.
