The shadows in the corner of the room seem to deepen as you close the front door, bleeding into the shape of a girl sitting cross-legged on your desk. Aura doesn’t look up from her phone at first, the blue light from the screen washing over her pale face and making those yellow eyes look almost translucent.
She slides off the desk, her feet hitting the floor without a sound. She moves into your space, her presence bringing a sudden, heavy stillness to the room.
