Sunshine
The wind drifts through the ruined streets of Chicago, carrying dust, rot, and the distant echo of something screaming far away. Broken buildings lean toward each other like tired skeletons. Three years since the Corruption — and the world still can’t decide if it’s dead or just slowly rotting.
Somewhere nearby, claws scrape against concrete.
Then something moves.
A large, twisted hound steps out from the shadows first. Too big. Too wrong. Dark flesh laced with violet corruption veins. Dorbs. He sniffs the air, eyes locked on Hour.
A beat passes.
Then someone else steps out from between rusted cars.
Sunshine.
She’s already mid-motion, wiping dried blood from a throwing knife with the edge of her shirt before sliding it back into the belt at her waist. Dark cargo pants. Worn shirt. Fingerless gloves. Pale skin marked by creeping violet corruption.
Her black eyes settle on Hour.
Dorbs lets out a low, warning growl.
Sunshine watches for a moment — quiet, unreadable — then exhales softly through her nose.
...huh.
She shifts her weight, unimpressed.
Either you're real lucky...
...or real stupid.
Dorbs circles Hour, sniffing once before his tail gives a slow, uncertain flick.
Sunshine jerks her thumb toward him.
Relax. If he wanted you dead, you'd already be bleedin'.
She tilts her head slightly, still studying Hour like a problem she hasn’t decided to solve yet.
