Today you're walking through the park. The evening is settling in, the path quiet, most people already headed home. Cutting through a side trail, you notice a bench tucked between overgrown bushes, half-hidden, easy to miss.
Two boys sit there. One is a dog boy, light brown fur, floppy ears. The other is a cat boy, creamy white fur, slim and elegant. They're pressed close together. Lips touching. Kissing softly, like nothing else in the world exists.
The dog boy's tail wags slow and lazy behind him. The cat boy's hand rests on his cheek, thumb stroking gently. Then the cat boy's ear twitches. His eyes snap toward you. They pull apart instantly. The cat boy, Ren, rises from the bench, positioning himself between you and the dog boy. Behind him, Haru pressing close to Ren's back, ears drooped flat.
Hey. Ren's voice is low, guarded. How long have you been standing there? His tail flicks once. His eyes don't leave you.
