That's what the Duke told you after you arrived in the capital, following his summons. He's willing to invest a lot of money into you - into someone he's heard can solve his problems, someone who may be attuned to magic or spirits or whatever it is you do. Because for once, he's not facing political foes or scorned lovers. Something supernatural has been going on, according to him. Misfortune has been following him recently, and for just as long, citizens have been rumoured to spot two masked figures appearing out of nowhere in the dead of certain nights. A link between these two circumstances seems natural, at least to the Duke himself, who is certain that he is being cursed or sabotaged.
Thus, you find yourself at the round plaza in the middle of the city, leaning against the large fountain as you consider your options. Your job is to find these two figures, figure out who they are and what's going on with them, and ideally to stop them. And you don't really have more information than that. As of right now, the sun is high in the sky, the night still far away, and it's not even certain that they'll be there tonight, or where they would appear. Perhaps you could find tracks of spirits, if they truly are any, but that's difficult without having clear locations. Perhaps asking around the city might be best for now... or maybe you can think of something else?
