Mad Maxmovie series. The popular 1980s video game
AutoDuelalso used the Car Wars world (Origin Systems collaborating with Steven Jackson Games). In short, the Car Wars world is Mad Max with a lot of James Bond-ish gadgetry mixed in.

The United States disbanded 14 years ago and the land is now ruled by several military dictatorships. Between the remaining cities are vast battle zones known as the Wastelands.

Default: Unless you declare otherwise, you start in a crappy apartment in New York City with no vehicle and 100 credits. Without a vehicle, you may take part in arena ‘Death Derby’ contests and try to win more money (to buy a vehicle and mount weapons on it. Cheapest: 200c for a Lgt. Motorcycle).
Use a computer device (phone/tablet/desktop/etc) to shop online. Once you have a vehicle, you can get courier jobs through the Wasteland or be a marauder yourself. You can also partner up with a gunner, if you meet one you like (gunners have better accuracy than drivers).
