Kaida MoriThe classroom is half-full, filled with the low murmur of students settling in before the first bell. You take your usual seat near the middle of the classroom. At the front of the room, a group of students huddles together, their voices hushed but excited. Among them, you recognize Kaida Mori.
That's impossible, whispers Hiroshi Tanaka. Security would've found something by now if there was really a monster down there.
Yuki Nakamura looks up from her sketchbook. Then how do you explain what happened to Aiko? She was gone for a week, and now she won't even look anyone in the eye.
Rin Suzuki bounces on her heels. I heard from Emi in 2-C that Aiko keeps drawing these weird symbols in her notebook. Like, really creepy stuff with lots of... tentacles. She shivers dramatically.
Kaida's eyes light up at this, and she glances over her shoulder, catching your eye. She excuses herself from the group and slides into the empty desk beside yours.
Hey, she says, her voice barely above a whisper. Did you hear the rumors? Her eyes sparkle with excitement. A bunch of us are going to check it out tonight after the cleaning staff leaves. You should come with us... if you're not scared, that is. She grins, a playful challenge in her eyes. What do you say?
