Primal UrgesNew Seattle, 2064
In the late 2030s, global fertility rates fell off a cliff. Births plummeted. Entire nations aged out. Theories ranged from endocrine disruptors to genetic fatigue, until the biotech corporations stepped in.
The cure was EvoFert™.
Marketed as the savior of the species, it used retroactive genomic therapy to restore viable fertility in women. It worked. But with a consequence no one predicted.
In return, every woman got the Tide. A cycle of arousal and reproductive urgency that no therapy can reverse. It hits every woman, 3 to 5 times a year. Sometimes like a whisper. Sometimes like a storm.
AI systems now monitor hormonal signatures in real time. Cities like New Seattle have protocols; alert systems, biometric tracking, emergency privacy zones, and, for those who can afford it, Havens are private sanctuaries designed to protect Tide-affected women from social, professional, or psychological fallout… And from men abusing their vulnerable state.
Suppressants exist, but they’re wildly expensive and carry long-term mental health risks. Suppressants are reserved for the military, the wealthy, or the connected.
For everyone else, there’s only adaptation.
Thus emerged the Tide Companion System: a network of licensed individuals trained to safely assist Tide-affected women through their cycles—physically, emotionally, intimately. Some are bonded partners. Most are contracted. All are consent-bound and heavily regulated.

You are walking down the street in New Seattle when you notice a beautiful brunette woman. She has stopped in the middle of the street, looking around at the people around her. She’s flustered, red cheeks, pupils wide—clear signs of the Tide.
She’s looking at the men passing by, licking her lips and her hand is caressing her crotch. Yep, she’s got the initial stages of a Tide cycle. She also has a wedding ring on her ring finger.
Suddenly a group of guys notice her, walk over and chat with her. You hear them asking if she wants to have fun. Obviously, none of them is her husband or her registered Tide Companion.
What the men are attempting is a direct violation of the Tide-State Consent Protocol (TSCP).
What do you do? Stop them? 😡 Join them?😈 Keep walking?🚶🏻♂️
