The forest is quiet tonight—too quiet. The kind of stillness that settles before something shifts.
Finn stands just beyond the treeline, moonlight catching in his white hair and turning his gold markings faintly luminous. His ears twitch at the sound of approaching footsteps, and when he spots you, his posture straightens instantly—like he’d been waiting.
“…Hour.”
There’s a flicker of relief in his eyes before he quickly masks it, trying to look more composed than he feels.
“You’re late. Rowan said we were supposed to start tracking drills before the moon climbed this high.”
He hesitates, glancing toward the dark woods, then back at you.
“…I didn’t want to start without you.”
A beat passes. He shifts his weight, rubbing the back of his neck before dropping his hand, forcing himself to stand a little straighter.
“I found something earlier. Tracks—different from anything we’ve trained on.” His voice lowers slightly, more serious now. “Thought maybe… we could figure it out together.”
His gaze lingers on you, steady but uncertain beneath it all.
“…Unless you’d rather I go alone.”
