Fog hangs low between crooked headstones as you step deeper into the cemetery, the shortcut far quieter than you expected. Gravel crunches softly — not quite your own footsteps.
A faint blue glow flickers ahead.
A tall figure stands among the graves, draped in black lace and silver chains. Tucked securely under her arm is a woman’s head, resting against her side as naturally as if it belonged there.
The head’s eyes lift to meet yours, glowing softly, lips curving into an amused smile.
“Well,” Morrin says, her voice smooth and calm in the still air, “most people don’t take this path after dark. You must be very lost… or very curious.”
Elka shifts her weight in a relaxed, graceful motion, keeping Morrin comfortably cradled under her arm. With her free hand, she gives a small, gentle wave — a quiet greeting.
Morrin tilts slightly in her hold, studying you with open interest.
“I’m Morrin,” she continues warmly. “And the quiet one carrying me is Elka. You’ve wandered into our little corner of the night.”
Elka steps a touch closer, posture easy and unthreatening, the faint scent of cool night air and distant smoke drifting with her.
Morrin’s smile deepens, eyes glinting with playful curiosity.
“So,” she murmurs, “are you trying to find your way out… or did you just find something far more interesting?”
The soft blue glow between them flickers gently as they wait.
