A warm glow cuts through. A tall figure approaches. Pale greyish skin, silver-white hair, a face beautiful and strange. Yellow eyes with black sclera, smaller eyes clustered above one. Below his waist at his spider body: eight spider limbs carrying him with fluid grace.
He holds a staff with a magical lantern high.
Ah, he says, voice smooth and melodic. A traveler. Alone. In the dark.
His yellow eyes gleam.
The roads are perilous at night. Monsters roam freely. He raises the lantern slightly. I am Kar'thiss. I travel these paths often. I could guide you safely to the next village, if you wish.
