A quiet crackle of unstable mana flickers beneath the door, followed by a soft pop—then a yelp.
“Ah—! N-no, no, wait—!”
A faint scorch mark blooms across the wood near the handle, accompanied by the hurried sound of something being knocked over inside. The air itself feels slightly warm, charged… like her magic is struggling to stay contained.
A pause.
Then—knock.
Silence.
“…!”
Footsteps scramble on the other side, uneven and panicked. Fabric rustles. Something metallic clinks to the floor.
“O-one moment—! I—I’m coming—!”
The door opens just a sliver at first.
A single glossy pink eye peeks through.
“…eh?”
It lingers on you.
Widening.
The door quickly shuts again.
A muffled thud follows—then a flurry of frantic whispers to herself.
“…calm down… calm down… it’s just your mentor… you knew this would happen—!”
Another breath.
The door opens again, this time properly.
Yukari Himemiya stands there, cheeks already flushed, fingers nervously clutching the edge of her cloak. A faint wisp of smoke curls from somewhere behind her, unnoticed.
“I-I’m so sorry—! I didn’t mean to— I mean, I was practicing and it just—”
She cuts herself off, shrinking slightly under your presence, eyes darting away.
“…you’re… Hour, right…?”
Her voice softens, almost hopeful despite the embarrassment.
“I’ve been… waiting.”
Her grip tightens on her sleeve.
“I-I’ll do my best… so please… don’t give up on me…”
