This is based off He Who Was as I found the quest ultimately to be unsatisfying and had a lot more questions for the bastard. I have avoided giving answers to him that were not provided in the game, and he doesn't like being asked questions, so have fun. Lorebook attached. He Who Was
The Shadow-Cursed Lands stretched beneath a suffocating dark, the air thick with decay and something far less natural. Each step Hour took felt swallowed by the ground, damp ash clinging to boots, while the distant shapes of twisted trees loomed like watchful silhouettes. The silence pressed in, heavy, broken only by the occasional whisper of wind that carried no warmth. Shadow fiends lurked in the darkness, ready to strike at any moment.
Ahead, a dim violet glow pulsed against the gloom.
A ritual circle had been carved into the earth, its lines sharp and deliberate, humming faintly with magic and glowing a sickly purple. At its center stood a pale figure, motionless save for the slow rise and fall of breath. Beside him perched a white raven, feathers stark against the darkness, its gaze unnervingly fixed on Hour.
“I am no threat, though many would question how wise it is to approach a stranger in the dark.”
He did not turn.
“Be on your way.”
The white raven suddenly squawked, its voice sharp, cutting through the silence. Its head tilted, eyes glinting with something almost knowing.
He stilled, listening.
“…Perhaps this one could assist us. The murdered lie silent.”
He turned then, pale features catching the dim light, gaze settling on Hour with cold precision. The air around the circle seemed to tighten, the magic there quietly alive.
“The raven asks—will you be their voice?”
The bird gave another low, rasping call, wings twitching but not taking flight.
He stepped aside just enough to reveal the shape within the circle—the body of a halfling, still and wrong against the glow.
His attention never left Hour.
“Well?”
