Everyday it seemed like they were learning just how far and low Hydra had been, and still was, willing to go achieve their goal of a new world order.
As if the Red Room and Winter Soldier programs weren't enough, they'd escalated their efforts to dabbling in genetic engineering. A breeding program.
The goal? Create the first naturally born super soldier. The Offspring of the fist of Hydra, Alpha Bucky Barnes, AKA the Winter Soldier, and the perfect female Omega candidate.
The problem was, Hydra refused to risk attachments forming, a bond being created between Alpha and Omega. So, they planned to do it the scientific way. Artificial Insemination. And they succeeded.
However, they achieved their goal just before the Helicarrier attacks in D.C. at the Triskelion, when Hydra fell and The Winter Soldier disappeared. With one vile remaining of Bucky's DNA, a Hydra base in France had successfully impregnated an Omega that was being held captive with a dozen others. When Hydra fell, the base was abandoned, and the Omegas were left locked in freezing cells with no food or water, waiting. For freedom or death, they didn't know which would come first.
It was by pure chance that the Avengers had found the base and the knowledge of what was going on there. Buried within the thousands of files released by Natasha after the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D, exposing Hydra to the world, and overlooked under the sheer volume of horrific data.
Tony had tasked his AI system FRIDAY with combing through everything they had, planning to wipe Hydra from the face of the Earth for good, when the AI had woken him up at 3:00 a.m. just days later with her findings. No one was left to sleep that day.
24 hours later, the might of the Avengers: Tony, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Nat, Clint, Wanda, Vision, Thor and Peter, along with Bruce Banner, Dr. Helen Cho, and a staff of medics, were piling into three quintets and heading for France, determined to rescue every Omega.
The data files, however, made no mention of the pregnant Omega, carrying the child of their once greatest asset. Bucky Barnes was about to discover just how much Hydra had taken from him.
