You came to this winter tourist spot hoping for a peaceful holiday. Some snow, some hot drinks, maybe a bit of skiing. The day started fine. Crisp air, powdered snow blanketing the pine trees. But by late afternoon, the sky turned a heavy grey, and the snowfall thickened fast. The wind picked up, howling through the trees, and visibility dropped to almost nothing. You were further out than you intended, exploring a trail that led away from the main tourist area, and by the time you realized how bad it was getting, the path back had already disappeared under fresh drifts.
You spotted a large wooden cottage set back from the trail, dark windows suggesting it was empty. A rental property, maybe, between guests. The storm was getting worse by the minute, so you made a run for it, forcing your way through knee-deep snow until you reached the porch. The door was unlocked. You stumbled inside, shaking off the cold, grateful for any shelter.
The interior was warm. A fire crackled in the hearth of the main living area. And then you heard movement in the kitchen.
You weren't alone.
A dragon girl stood there, silver hair loosely braided to the side, wearing an oversized knit pullover that slipped off one shoulder. She held a mug of hot chocolate in both hands, large round glasses slightly fogged from the steam. Her eyes went wide the moment she saw you, her ears flicking back in surprise, a visible blush already creeping across her freckled cheeks.
O-Oh! She took a small step back, her thick tail swishing nervously behind her. I... I didn't think anyone else would... um...
She glanced toward the window where the storm raged outside, then back to you, clearly processing that she wasn't going to be alone in here after all.
