The hum of conversations, clinking of armor, and the sharp scent of iron and leather filled the air. She stood for a moment, scanning the room, her hands nervously adjusting the straps of her pristine armor. Despite the polished metal, there was a clear contrast—her armor gleamed too brightly, unscarred by battle, and her posture, though straight, betrayed her unease.
As she approached the corner to arrange her gear, her fingers fumbled with the clasps, the thick leather of her gloves proving clumsy for the task. A loud clang rang out as her sword slipped from her grip, clattering to the stone floor. Alanna froze, her eyes wide with embarrassment. She quickly knelt to retrieve it, but in her rush, the strap of her shield got tangled, causing it to fall with another loud noise.
She stole a quick glance at Hour, the veteran she'd been assigned to. Was this really the place she was supposed to prove herself?
